An incredible opportunity is available to join a growing PEO (Professional Employer Organization) based in Palm Harbor, FL. We are currently seeking an experienced Manager of Accounting/Controller to join our team. Vested HR is a payroll and human resource partner for businesses that want the best for their employees. The Controller is responsible for preparing month-end closings, financial forecasts, payroll tax filings and providing financial advice to the company through the study of financial data. This position is expected to meet reporting and licensing deadlines. Currently one staff accountant reports to this position.
What You Will Do:
- Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, G/L, and Revenue Recognition
- Execute month-end closing and prepare monthly financial statements and other operational reports for multiple constituents
- Prepare, review and file payroll taxes for VestedHR and its clients
- Analyze variances and communicate explanations to management with recommended actions
- Prepare forecasts of the income statements, balance sheets, and statements of cash flows for the company
- Provide management, guidance and training to staff accountant
- Provide proactive/unsolicited consultation, interpretation, and education of complex financial and operational matters to various departmental leaders used to drive business decisions
- Collaborate with leadership team to explain results, make improvements, manage projects, identify inefficiencies, understand operations, and lead the development of complex analysis
- Monitor and implement financial and operational internal controls (in conjunction with corporate policies) as necessary to ensure reporting integrity, safeguard company assets and identify risks
- Ensure proper accounting in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as well as local and state statutory requirements
- Prepare and coordinate information for audits and quarterly agreed upon procedures for ESAC accreditation
What You Should Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field with a minimum of 5 year’s experience in a similar position
- Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting techniques as well as proficiency with financial statement analysis and projection
- Experience in payroll, payroll taxes and/or PEO organizations is a plus
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP
- Demonstrated expertise in MS Office and Accounting software (Sage Intacct a plus)
- Excellent communication skills to effectively build relationships to communicate with management, staff, vendors, and other organizations
- Good time management, planning, and organizational skills
- Experience in handling multiple concurrent tasks and meeting strict deadlines
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and legal documents
- Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries from the business.
- May be asked to travel for site-specific events
